Wondering what all this Home Stretch Life business is about? Well, as you can probably tell by now, we’re a no-nonsense group of girls (we use that term loosely) who are hell bent on making your life better – no matter how far you are from the home stretch.
Penny is a tech nut. She loves spending time digging into code, playing with new apps, and even tearing apart computers and putting them back together. Not bad for someone who’s been 39 for a few decades already. She’s also a little on the shy side. You may not see much of her face, but you’ll hear a lot of her advice over on our Sensible sites.
[LINKS TO SENSIBLE are coming 🙂 We catch Penny sneaking over there a lot!]
Fran is a gardener by nature and a foodie at heart, but she’s Celiac, so she’s aware of what life without your favorite foods is like. There’s nothing she’d love more than a buttery, flaky croissant, but so far, GF flour can’t do that. You’ll find plenty of food, gardening, and green living tips from Fran, as well as her thoughts on this aging thing – she’s in her 70s – on Home Stretch Life, Fern Valley Views, and the Good Series.
Anne is almost Fran’s twin, but Fran always wears a hat. Anne, on the other hand, is too sensible for that. She’s a big fan of eco-friendly living and being prepared for just about anything. She’s even got geothermal heating/cooling, solar on her roof and a storm room in the basement. You’ll find her musings on all of the Home Stretch Life family pages. A retired doctor, you’ll also hear us call her “Doc.”
Christina is a passionate mom who knows motherhood comes in different shapes and sizes. She’s also a gardener and big on natural living, but aware that sometimes you’ve got to grab what’s around to keep yourself on the go. We’re fairly certain that any interview with her might start with this phrase “Coffee, anyone? Cookie dough ice cream? Yes, for breakfast. Stop looking at me that way!” If the weather’s good, you’ll find her hiking in the mountains. Don’t expect to see much of her, as she tends to hide behind the scenes, but when she does write something, you can bet it’s worth reading.
[LINKS TO REAL KIDS pages will be along shortly.]
Together, we’re a lot of fun. Home Stretch Life is all about that, you know. The fun. Some of us really are in the home stretch, from disease or age or both, others are caring for people who are. And here on Home Stretch Life, you’ll see tips on dealing with that end of things, too. Doc takes care of that. She’s a good old fashioned country doctor who is not giving out medical advice while here, but does edit carefully to make sure we don’t slip up and say something that’s dangerous, silly, or just plain stupid (thanks, Doc!). With over 30 years in medicine, you can bet she’s got a few HIPPA-safe stories and a few good lessons to share.
We’re looking forward to getting to know you, and hope you have fun getting to know us, too!
